Working With Us

  • Do you work with all types of businesses?

    We support VAT-registered UK businesses - mainly Limited Companies, and also VAT-registered sole traders who want organised, ongoing support.

  • Do you offer year-end only services?

    Typically, most of our clients use us for bookkeeping, payroll and VAT services throughout the year also. However, if you require year end only services, start an enquiry and we can discuss your needs.

  • What accounting software do you use?

    We mainly use Xero and Quickbooks, and can guide you through moving over if needed.

  • How does pricing work?

    We quote based on your business size, transactions, payroll needs and level of support required. We're not the cheapest firm, but we focus on clarity, proper organisation and consistent service.

  • How do I become a client?

    Start by completing our short enquiry form. We'll review your information and invite you to a discovery call if we're the right fit for each other.

  • How quickly can you get me onboarded?

    Most clients are fully onboarded within a few weeks. We guide you through each step and keep everything organised from the start.

    Yes, but digital copies are usually fine. We’ll show you the simplest way to keep everything organised without extra admin.

    We recommend cloud software. If you’re open to moving, we’ll make the transition simple and stress-free.

  • How often should I send paperwork or information in?

    We’ll agree a clear monthly or quarterly rhythm during onboarding so everything stays up to date without last-minute pressure.



Paying yourself and payroll

  • How do I take money from the company?

    There are a few ways to take money out (usually salary, dividends and reimbursed expenses). The right mix depends on your business structure and income, and we’ll guide you clearly once you’re onboard.

  • Do I need to run payroll for myself as a director?

    It depends on your setup and the level of income you want to take. We’ll explain your options as part of onboarding.

  • Can I pay my partner or family through the company?

    This depends on the work they do and the rate paid. We’ll discuss what’s appropriate for your setup once you’re onboard.



Expenses - what can I claim?

  • Can I claim for fuel?

    Yes — but how you claim depends on the type of vehicle, how it’s used and whether it’s owned personally or by the business. We’ll review your setup during onboarding and show you the simplest, most compliant approach.

  • Can I claim meals for myself or clients?

    Some meals can be claimed depending on purpose and context. We’ll talk you through the rules in plain English so you’re confident about what’s appropriate.

  • Can I buy workwear through the company?

    Some clothing qualifies as allowable business workwear and some doesn’t. We’ll explain exactly what counts for your industry so you stay compliant.


  • Can I claim for my phone?

    Possibly — it depends how the phone is used and who owns the contract. We’ll show you the cleanest setup during onboarding.



  • Can I reclaim VAT on certain purchases?

    Some items qualify and some don’t. We’ll help you understand the rules when we review your business.

HMRC & compliance

  • Can you speak to HMRC for me?

    Yes — once you’re a client and authorised, we can help handle HMRC communication where appropriate.

  • What happens if I miss a deadline?

    We’ll explain what HMRC may do in those situations and support you with getting things back on track.

VAT & registration

  • Should I be VAT registered?

    We’ll review your turnover, future plans and obligations during onboarding and advise you clearly.
